Hey guys. I recently did my scheduling for next school year (I'll be in ninth grade) and have joined AFJROTC. I've been looking forward to this all my life, but the apprehension has set in. Could any of you tell me what I should be expecting (concerning activites/physical requirements)? I'd really appreciate it.
I'm so durn: anxiousanxious.

It really depends on your unit, some units are top-notch and some you sit in class and talk/eat donuts/do nothing. In an average unit you'll have leadership and aerospace classes, one day of drill and one day of PT(this is what my unit does at least). The PT isn't that bad unless you're really out of shape and every now and then we'll play Ultimate Frisbee instead of regular PT. Activities range anywhere from your typical Un/Armed Drill teams, a Color Guard, Rocketry program, Academic/Kitty Hawk, and various service activities your corps is doing. The best way to get a good JROTC experience is just dive in to some activity. Good Luck!

Thank you, this helped so much. I have one more question though, I hope you don't mind. What is required of you for PT or what should I be able to do so it's not tough for me?

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about PT so much. My Unit only runs the mile once a month. But, it annoyed me because some of the people in my flight were way out of shape. It took them like, ever.
I'm glad we're having the new 'Standards' that you have to meet in order to be in our ROTC.

But, thats hardly anything. So, don't worry. It'll be awesome.
